ASTA, Inc. was established in 2006 in order todevelop a novel next-generation diagnosis system, which is more efficientcompared to the traditional diagnosis techniques, so that it can overcomevarious diseases. ASTA decided to utilize MALDI-TOF MS, whichhas received a Nobel prize for its importance in high molecule analysis. Wehave decided that MALDITOF technology is a better candidate for replacing thetraditional diagnosis techniques. Therefore, we have been participating inresearch and development to develop such core technology for the past tenyears, and with the support from the Korean government, we have managed todevelop and commercialize various novel products such as next-generationdiagnostics system and platform, sample plates, and diagnostics software in2014.
MicroIDSys analyzes samples using a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer and performs identification using the obtained sample spectrum. MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer is an analytical instrument that utilizes MALDI process to ionize the sample components, transmits the generated ions to the detector, and analyzes the mass of the ions by measuring TOF time that is time taking the ions to reach the detector.
